Creating a Mosaic in Picasa 3
When presenting your photos you will sometimes want to create and print them as a series of images on a single sheet of paper rather than a single image. You might want to do this, for example, to use to decorate a gift card or for framing. Helen Bradley recently went over how you can create a triptych in Lightroom.
Here I present the Mosaic functionality that is in Picasa 3.
Using Picasa 3 you can assemble multiple images ready to print and a triptych or series of three images is one way to do this. Here’s how to use the Picasa Mosaic to assemble a triptych for printing and how to save it.
Step 1
You can create a triptych for any images that you have in Picasa so begin by selecting the folder or album which contains the images in your library.
Step 2
Click on the Collage button or select Create, Picture Collage.
The Mosaic Module has several options for creating a triptych mosaic. The Automatic Mosaic, Contact Sheet (Thumbnails) and Grid (Regular rows and columns) can be used.
Can get a vertical Triptych with options to change the Grid size, color and add a drop shadow.
The Thumbnail view has options to change the picture border from none, white, or Polaroid style.
Select the output size and the portrait or landscape orientation. Click on the Create Collage button to save the mosaic.
Need to be patient when saving the collage. Once the collage has been saved, add a caption to the image.
Step 3
In the bottom tool bar, click on the print button.
<JGC>
Picasa uses the predefined paper sizes that you have setup under Tools, Options. Select Border Options, Text, and Colors as desired. Select Portrait or Landscape orientation as desired (I chose 4 x 6 in Landscape, shrink to fit, with caption), and click Print.
